Fresh Mobile Internet Disruption Frustrates WhatsApp Users
Mobile internet disruption struck Islamabad and several other cities on Thursday, leaving thousands of users struggling with slow speeds and interruptions in essential online services.
Many residents complained that the disruption affected multiple apps, with WhatsApp being hit the hardest, as audio and video calls frequently dropped throughout the day.
Users also reported that file sharing on WhatsApp was delayed, disrupting personal conversations and work-related communication for professionals who rely heavily on mobile internet.
Despite mounting complaints, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has yet to issue an explanation, leaving users uncertain about both the cause and the expected restoration timeline.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited clarified that its systems remained fully operational, confirming there was no problem with either its local network or submarine cables.

The absence of an official clarification has further frustrated consumers, who continue to face difficulties in accessing vital online communication services amid the persistent disruption.
Yesterday, the government dismissed claims of poor mobile and internet coverage in Balochistan, citing consistent monitoring through Quality of Service surveys over three years.
A total of 23 surveys were conducted, identifying weak areas, with findings shared with mobile operators for corrective action or referred to the Universal Service Fund.
Officials said service challenges stemmed from multiple issues, including spectrum shortages, fiber constraints, right of way hurdles, rising demand, and recurring theft or vandalism across the province.
Measures included installing over 700 new sites, spectrum auctions, advanced technologies, fiberization projects, and enforcement actions with penalties worth Rs. 68.9 million.
