They are aimed at budget-conscious consumers seeking modern features without premium pricing. According to a company news release, both phones arrive with a large 6.7-inch LCD screen and running at 120 Hz refresh rate. They support up to 1,000 nits of peak brightness for improved outdoor visibility.
Under the hood, both models are powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300 chipset (6 nm process) and paired with 4GB RAM.
They have support for RAM Boost up to 12GB. They also feature a 5,200 mAh battery promising up to two days of usage on a single charge. The standard Moto G supports 30W wired fast charging, while the Play variant supports 18W.
The Moto G (2026) distinguishes itself with a 50-megapixel main rear camera and a 32-megapixel front shooter, 128 GB internal storage, and faster charging.
The Moto G Play (2026) drops to a 32-megapixel main rear camera and an 8-megapixel front one. It has 64 GB internal storage and offer a more value-oriented package. Importantly, the Play model is the first in the Play line to ship with 5G connectivity.
Price and availability in the U.S. are set at US $169.99 for the Moto G Play (2026) with a launch date of November 13.The Moto G (2026) is priced at US $199.99 and will start selling from December 11 (online) and January 15 via wider retail and carrier channels.
Historically, Motorola’s Moto G series has been a strong performer in the budget to mid-segment smartphone arena, offering decent features at accessible pricing.
For example, the previous-generation Moto G (2025) had similar aims but lacked the 5G support and the 120 Hz display featured in the new models.
The addition of AI-powered camera tools, dual OS upgrades and three years of security updates (as cited by Android Central) further bolster the value proposition.
From a market standpoint, these launches come at a time when consumers are increasingly demanding higher refresh-rate displays, 5G connectivity, and better battery life even in budget devices.
However, the competition is stiff: rival brands are offering similar specs at comparable pricing in regions such as South Asia and the Middle East.
In Pakistan, while local pricing has yet to be confirmed, the US dollar‐based pricing suggests a possible landing around Rs~ 17,000+ for the higher-end model given currency translation and local duties.
For Motorola, the success of the Moto G (2026) and Play (2026) will depend on timely local availability, after-sales support, and carrier partnerships—especially in growth markets.
With the company now offering up to two major OS upgrades and three years of security support for these models, the brand is signalling a more enduring commitment to its budget line. Motorola’s focus on affordable 5G and long-battery devices positions the Moto G (2026) family as a relevant contender in the entry-tier 5G smartphone space this holiday season.
As the smartphone sector continues its drive toward mid and high-refresh-rate displays, widespread 5G and longer battery life, the release of the Moto G (2026) family underscores the trend of flagship-inspired features trickling down to sub-US$200 devices.
