National Assembly Passes Resolution Demanding Action Against Israel

ISLAMABAD: Today, the National Assembly passed a resolution with unanimous support, urging the global community to take decisive steps to end Israel’s oppression and violence in Palestine and to ensure justice for the Palestinian population.

The resolution, introduced by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, urged the United Nations Security Council to enforce a ceasefire in Gaza to halt the genocidal conflict against the Palestinian people. The resolution advocated for the immediate recognition of the State of Palestine as a full member of the United Nations. Additionally, it demanded continuous and unrestricted humanitarian aid for the struggling Palestinians and the swift withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza.

It highlighted that the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh has intensified the anger and sorrow, viewing such acts as intentional efforts to undermine attempts to end the ongoing violence and establish peace in the region.

Strong condemnation was expressed towards extrajudicial and extraterritorial killings, noting that these actions not only disrupt global peace but also escalate tensions in the already unstable region and hinder peace efforts.

The resolution showed total solidarity with the Palestinian people and Ismail Haniyeh’s family, condemning Israel’s ongoing oppression and violence in Palestine as a grave tragedy for the Muslim community and the world.

At the start, the House held a moment of silence for Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, who was killed in Tehran. Both government and opposition members condemned Israeli atrocities against Palestinians in their speeches, paying tribute to the sacrifices of the Palestinian people and calling on the international community, including Muslim nations, to take concrete actions to end the blatant human rights abuses in Palestine.
