Nearly 64k Challans Issued in Punjab Drive
The Punjab Traffic Police has intensified its crackdown on traffic violations across the province, issuing thousands of challans within the past 24 hours.
According to a spokesperson, officers fined 63,970 vehicles and motorcycles in a single day in the province.
The enforcement drive produced penalties totalling Rs 84.29 million, illustrating the scale of violations recorded during the operation.
Officials confirmed that 23,904 vehicles remain impounded in police stations across Punjab due to various traffic offences, including severe or repeated violations.
Authorities issued 28,000 challans for helmet violations, while 4,312 cases were registered for non-compliance with safety rules.

To strengthen monitoring, the Punjab Traffic Police has begun using drones in Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Rawalpindi, and Multan.
The drones are being deployed to identify violations, monitor congestion, and support efforts to maintain smoother traffic flow.
Dedicated units from the Traffic Quick Response Force have also been formed to address violations quickly and assist field teams.
Earlier, authorities proposed increasing fines in Punjab up to Rs20,000 and introduced a modern challan system based on photographic or video evidence.
