OGDCL Hosts Seminar on ‘Awareness and Prevention from Corruption’
ISLAMABAD: Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) conducted a seminar entitled “Understanding and Preventing Corruption,” which was organized by the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in partnership with the Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI) at the OGDCL Headquarters in Islamabad. The event aimed to address corruption through enhanced awareness and the adoption of transparent practices.
During the event, Mr. Shahzad Safdar, Executive Director of HR/Admin at OGDCL, highlighted that the seminar is part of OGDCL’s ongoing commitment to enhancing understanding of the necessity of combating corruption and maintaining transparency in its operations. He noted that corruption hinders opportunities for youth and emphasized that only sustainable practices can effectively counteract this issue.
Dr. Shafqat Munir Ahmed, Deputy Executive Director (Policy) at SDPI, stressed the critical role of digitalization and economic documentation in fighting corruption. He suggested that through systematic reforms and effective governance, the country can overcome corruption. Dr. Ahmed pointed out that issues such as injustices, low educational levels, and poor management structures contribute to corruption, and these problems can only be tackled through transparency and accountability.
Mr. Izhar Ahmed Awan, Director General (Awareness) at NAB, praised OGDCL for organizing the seminar. He elaborated on NAB’s efforts in fighting corruption and stated that the organization plays a vital role in eradicating this issue. Mr. Awan emphasized that self-accountability is the most effective method for ensuring societal reform and securing a better future for the next generation.
The seminar marked an important advance in fostering transparency and accountability within OGDCL and the wider Pakistani business community.
