Oil Ships To Arrive Pakistan To Address Crisis

Amid global fuel shortages, three vessels carrying petrol are arriving at the Port Qasim, while one has already discharged it’s diesel cargo to replenish the fuel stocks in country. The fuel has been imported by Attock Petroleum, Wafi Petroleum, Hascol and Gas & Oil Pakistan Ltd.
The statement by the Port Qasim Authority (PQA), said that marine tanker (MT) Torm Damini arrived in Pakistan on March 8 and it has offloaded 37,000 metric tonne diesel. While another tanker, MT Nave Atropos carrying 50,000 tonnes of petrol has already arrived at Port Qasim and is scheduled to berth on Wednesday.
The discharge of cargo is likely to take around 30 hours. After Nave Atropos another tanker MT Spruce2 carrying 55,000 tonne petrol will berth expectedly on Thursday.The fourth ship MT Sea Clipper carrying 34,000 tonnes petrol is the last vessel in the schedule and it’s berthing has been allocated on 13 Mar evening or 14 Mar morning.While another vessel bringing petrol for the state owned oil marketing company – PSO, is expected to arrive after 16 March. Meanwhile a senior official of the petroleum ministry told that the country had stocks of 25 days for both petrol and diesel.
While diesel consumption start declining in the last week of Ramzan to a near half during Eid days the petrol consumption surge back during Eid days. “The import of petrol and diesel will ensure that the country does not go dry, ” the official said adding that people have started to conserve usage after the price increase that too is helping maintain stock level.
