Pakistan, Qatar Strike Deal to Divert 24 LNG cargoes in 2026

Pakistan and Qatar have reached a deal to divert 24 LNG cargoes in 2026 due to low demand of gas in Pakistan following a formula of net proceeds differential (NPD).
Under this formula, Pakistan will have to bear the loss if the Qatar sells LNG Cargoes in open market below the contract cost.

And this differential will be passed on to the LNG consumers. The federal government will issue policy guidelines to the oil and gas regulatory authority (Ogra) to pass on net differential in case of LNG cargoes from Qatar.Pakistan Clears LNG Cargoes Diversion Deal with Qatar
Earlier, Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) had allowed Pakistan State Oil (PSO) to reach a deal for 24 LNG cargoes for the year 2026.
Government of Pakistan and Qatar had signed two LNG agreements.
Under the Qatar arrangements, Pakistan is receiving nine cargoes per month. It is also receiving one LNG cargo from ENI per month.
