Pakistan Railways Uutsources Schools to Private Firms

Pakistan Railways has outsourced its schools to private education firms in an effort to modernize educational institutions.

Accoring to the media report, a signing ceremony was held in Islamabad, witnessed by Railways Minister Hanif Abbasi.

The Railway Boys and Girls School in Karachi was outsourced to TYMS Education System.

Meanwhile, Railway Girls High School Mughalpura Lahore and Railway Girls Saint Andrews School and College Lahore were handed over to SAGE/DAGE Education Pvt. Ltd.

The initiative is being implemented under the Public-Private Partnership model, following the Prime Minister’s vision to modernize educational institutions.

It also aims to safeguard the rights of railway employees and their children while improving overall school standards nationwide.

Private partners will introduce modern curricula, advanced teaching methods, upgraded exams, well-equipped labs, sports facilities, and renovated buildings.

In October, Pakistan Railways earned Rs13.547 billion by leasing commercial and agricultural land over five years, aiming to become profitable.

The department has leased about 14,042 acres of railway land through competitive bidding under the Railway Property and Land Rules, 2023, approved by the Federal Cabinet.

The Real Estate Development and Marketing Company (REDAMCO), a subsidiary of the Ministry of Railways, is leading efforts to generate non-fare revenue.

It is also accelerating anti-encroachment operations to reclaim railway land from individuals, groups, and business organizations across the country.
