Special Assistant to the Prime Minister, Haroon Akhtar Khan, held a high-level meeting with the Ambassador of Pakistan to Russia to discuss key matters of mutual economic interest, and the revival of Pakistan Steel Mills.
During the meeting, detailed discussions were held on strengthening Pakistan–Russia cooperation, with a special focus on the revival and modernization of Pakistan Steel Mills. Haroon Akhtar Khan reiterated that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision is to restore Pakistan Steel Mills as a viable and productive national asset.
“The Prime Minister’s vision for the revival of Pakistan Steel Mills is now moving towards becoming a reality,” said Haroon Akhtar Khan. He added that five companies have already shown strong interest in investing in and participating in the revival of Pakistan Steel Mills.

Highlighting the growing bilateral engagement, Haroon Akhtar Khan stated that Pakistan and Russia are paving a new course in economic cooperation, particularly in the industrial and manufacturing sectors. He confirmed that Russian companies are keen to invest in and support the revival of Pakistan Steel Mills.
A comprehensive roadmap for the revival of Pakistan Steel Mills has been finalized, outlining the strategic, financial, and operational framework for the project. The Special Assistant further noted that the revival process is progressing at a fast pace, with continuous engagements and meetings underway with Russian counterparts.
The government remains committed to ensuring transparency, sustainability, and long-term economic benefits through the revival of Pakistan Steel Mills, in line with the Prime Minister’s broader industrial and economic reform agenda.
