Pakistan Won’t Compromise China Ties for US Relations: PM Says
Pakistan has decided not to compromise its strategic relationship with China in order to pursue good relations with the United States (US).
Pakistan and the United States have enjoyed good relations historically during the era of President Donald Trump.

“Pakistan was pursuing good relations with the US without compromising on its strategic relationship with China,” the prime minister said in a recent high-level meeting.
Trump had also declared India a ‘dead economy’ and shifted the focus from India to Pakistan during the recent war between the two arch-rivals, India and Pakistan.
US companies had signed agreements with the army-backed Frontier Works Organization (FWO) to explore gold and copper in Pakistan.
The Prime Minister Shahbaz Sarif, in a recent meeting, informed the ministers of the recent signing of MOUs with US-based companies regarding exploration and investment in the gemstones, mines, and minerals sector of Pakistan.
The Premier expressed satisfaction that this initiative would not only enable Pakistan to benefit from the technical expertise of the US-based companies but would also be reflective of the growing ties between Pakistan and the United States of America.
However, the premier made it clear that Pakistan would not compromise its strategic relationship with China to pursue good relations with the United States (US).
The Prime Minister also informed during the meeting about his recently concluded visit to the People’s Republic of China wherein he not only participated in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Tianjin Summit 2025 but also met with President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang of the People’s Republic of China.
Premier also met other world leaders who had come to China to attend the SCO Summit. The Prime Minister commended all the Federal Ministers, Ministers of State, Special Assistants to the Prime Minister, concerned Federal Secretaries, SEPC, and other organisations and officials who had worked tirelessly in organising the Pakistan-China B2B Investment Conference that was held in Beijing on 4 September 2025.
The Prime Minister apprised the Cabinet that due to the meticulous planning of the concerned Ministers and officers, the B2B Conference turned out to be a resounding and unprecedented success, which could be gauged simply from the fact that MOUs worth US $8.5 billion had been signed between Pakistani and Chinese companies.
In this regard, the Prime Minister particularly commended the immaculate planning and dedicated efforts of the Deputy Prime Minister/Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr. Mohammad Ishaq Dar; the Minister for Planning, Development & Special Initiatives, Mr. Ahsan Iqbal Chaudhry; the Secretary, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ms. Anna Baloch; and the Ambassador of Pakistan to China, Mr. Khalil Hashmi, in organising the Pakistan-China B2B Investment Conference.
