Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Mohsin Naqvi will meet Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif today to present the board’s position regarding Pakistan’s participation in the 2026 T20 World Cup match against India.

Naqvi is expected to brief the Prime Minister on his discussions with the International Cricket Council and the Bangladesh Cricket Board, outlining proposed measures and security concerns raised by Bangladesh in recent meetings.

The meeting will allow Pakistan to present its viewpoint while considering diplomatic sensitivities and sporting implications before making a final decision about the controversial T20 World Cup match against India.

Earlier, the ICC, PCB, and Bangladesh Cricket Board convened in Lahore for a five-hour meeting to discuss security concerns, on-field conduct, and possible solutions for Bangladesh’s participation in the ongoing World Cup.

Sources said the ICC addressed several demands raised by Bangladesh and drafted a mutual formula to prevent on-field abuses, aiming to reassure the board before final government approval is sought for implementation.

ICC Deputy Chairman Imran Khawaja and Bangladesh Cricket Board President Aminul Islam departed for consultations with their respective governments, and the boards are expected to reconvene later today to finalize the proposed agreement.

Bangladesh had previously raised security concerns about playing in India during the T20 World Cup and requested a venue change, which the ICC rejected, prompting Bangladesh to withdraw from the tournament in protest.

In response, Pakistan announced a boycott of its India match, expressing solidarity with Bangladesh and criticizing the ICC for what it called “double standards,” creating a major shockwave across international cricket.
