PHC Suspends M-Tag Fines on Motorways
The Peshawar High Court has temporarily stopped the collection of fines from motorists travelling on the motorway without an M-Tag.
According to the details, the decision was announced by a two-member bench headed by Justice Mohammad Naeem Anwar.
During the hearing, the petitioner’s counsel told the court that the National Highway Authority’s policy defines distance for tax purposes.

He added that, under the policy, toll rates are only meant to increase after three years.
The bench questioned how the recent increase had been implemented and ordered that fines for vehicles without an M-Tag be suspended.
The court also requested the toll tax policy from the Director Revenue of the National Highway Authority and adjourned the case until 12 December.
