PIMS Achieves Milestone with Advanced Robotic Surgery
Islamabad achieved a historic medical breakthrough as its first-ever robotic surgery was successfully performed at PIMS Hospital.
The advanced “Two Mi Surgical Robot” was used for the operation, showcasing modern technology and precision in healthcare system.
International experts from the United Kingdom joined local medical professionals from PIMS to perform the robotic-assisted surgical procedure.
The medical team included Professor Shameem Khan, Professor Mateen Sharif, and Dr. Javed Burki, supported by senior specialists from PIMS.
Doctors Atif Inam Shami, Burhan-ul-Haq, and Khalid Saeed also contributed to the operation, ensuring smooth coordination throughout the complex process.

PIMS Executive Director, Dr. Imran Sikandar, stated it was the hospital’s first robotic surgery and a proud technological achievement.
He added that robotic technology assists in performing technically demanding surgeries that are otherwise difficult using traditional manual techniques.
Dr. Sikandar emphasized that robotic surgeries minimize pain, reduce recovery time, and enhance patient safety and procedural accuracy significantly.
He termed the success a major step toward integrating advanced medical innovations into public healthcare institutions for improved outcomes.
The hospital administration confirmed plans to conduct additional robotic surgeries, promoting safer, faster, and more efficient treatments across complex medical cases.
