PM directs economic team to speed up transformation of FBR
LAHORE: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif Sunday set a target for his economic team to speed up the process of transformation of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).
He was chairing a review meeting on Track and Trace System of FBR.FBR Says No Advance Tax Applicable on Oil Dealers, OMCs
The total digitization and restructuring of FBR according to modern standards was part of the transformation plan. He delegated responsibility to Minister of State for Finance to oversee the transformation project of FBR.
The prime minister was given a comprehensive report on the track and trace system and the progress of FBR’s digitization. He ordered immediate action against those accountable for shortcomings and irregularities related to the track and trace system.
He called for prompt implementation of measures to address the negligence of officials in upgrading the system.
He emphasized that reforms in FBR were essential to enhance Pakistan’s tax system, stating, “We will work tirelessly to safeguard every cent of the poor people of Pakistan.” Shehbaz Sharif affirmed that the digitization of FBR was a top priority for the government and that no disruptions would be tolerated.
Federal ministers Muhammad Aurangzeb, Ahad Khan Cheema, Minister of State Ali Pervaiz Malik, Prime Minister’s Coordinator Ihsan Afzal, and senior officials attended the meeting.
