PM directs to achieve export target of $60b

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has instructed the Ministry of Commerce and other relevant departments to take concrete steps to achieve the export target of sixty billion dollars in the next three years.


Chairing a meeting of the National Export Development Board in Islamabad today, he directed the Ministry of Commerce to finalize the policy proposals in collaboration with sectors having export potential.


He emphasized the importance of research and development, innovation, and brand development to distinguish Pakistani products and boost their exports.


Shehbaz Sharif instructed the Ministry of Power to present a comprehensive plan to reduce the power tariff for industries.


The Prime Minister also urged Pakistani embassies’ trade officers worldwide to actively promote Pakistani exports.


The Prime Minister noted that exports had reached thirty billion dollars in the last fiscal year. He hailed IT exports exceeding 3.2 billion dollars as a positive outcome of government policies.


Shehbaz Sharif demanded prompt resolution of exporters’ issues and requested a report within the next two weeks.


Highlighting the crucial role of the private sector in national development, he stressed their involvement in policy formulation to address their concerns.


The Prime Minister directed the Ministry of National Food Security to collaborate with provinces to enhance extension services for agricultural exports, advocating swift action on high-yielding seed varieties.


Shehbaz Sharif urged immediate resolution of export shipping issues to shorten delivery times to Europe and America.


He called for the Ministry of Commerce to coordinate with the Investment Board to facilitate the relocation of Chinese export industries to Pakistan.


The Prime Minister emphasized zero tolerance for delays in exporters’ refunds, asserting their timely processing.


Meeting participants praised the Prime Minister’s dedicated focus on the export sector, citing it as encouraging for industrialists.


Exporters also welcomed the Prime Minister’s initiative to expedite refunds for the export industry.
