PM Shehbaz Sharif Urges Strengthening Pak-China Ties Across Key Sectors
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has stressed the importance of strengthening the friendship between Pakistan and China across various sectors such as agriculture, mining and minerals, information technology, and infrastructure.
He made these remarks during a meeting with representatives of foreign business firms operating in Pakistan, including a substantial number of Chinese entrepreneurs.Prime Minister Shehbaz Orders Swift Implementation of Pak-China Agreements
Describing the Pak-China relationship as being more significant than the Himalayas and reaching new heights, he expressed pleasure at the large number of Chinese investors coming to Pakistan to explore new business opportunities in different areas.
Shehbaz Sharif noted that Pakistan’s economy heavily depends on agriculture and emphasized the need to fully utilize this sector and initiate new projects in value-added services.
He pointed out that sixty percent of the population lives in rural areas and supports themselves through various agricultural activities, which need to be modernized and improved.
Referring to his recent visit to the Chinese Agriculture and Research Centre, the Prime Minister mentioned being impressed by the scale and capabilities of the center.
He announced that the government plans to send one thousand Pakistani students for refresher courses in agriculture to learn advanced techniques and practices.
The Prime Minister outlined an objective to boost agricultural exports by an additional seven billion dollars.
He suggested that China could be a significant partner in achieving this goal and believed that this target could be met if both nations collaborate and support each other.
Regarding the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), Shehbaz Sharif indicated that Phase 2 of CPEC will soon commence, focusing on Business-to-Business (B2B) collaborations in agriculture, information technology, and other fields.
He encouraged company representatives to engage in B2B agreements to fully benefit from the project and participate in CPEC.
