Hafiz Farhat Abbas, a son-in-law of Prime Minister’s wife Bushra Maneka, was reportedly appointed chairman board Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA).

The appointment had had reflected nepotism and contradicted the government’s stated policies. Prime minister Imran khan had been alleging the PML-N and PPP leaders for involving in corruption.
Khan had been preaching for ending corruption and corrupt practices in the society.
The appointment had raised questions over the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf government’s claim of establishing merit-based appointment system by curbing favoritism in state institutions.
The PTI-led government had been repeatedly saying it focused on transparency and merit in public-sector appointments.
