The government has decided to keep average electricity tariffs unchanged, providing major relief to consumers despite rising energy costs across the country.
During a NEPRA hearing, the Power Division’s additional secretary said adjustments to subsidies have been made, removing the need for any tariff increase for consumers.
Officials revealed that a total of Rs629 billion in subsidies is being provided to various categories of electricity users to ease financial burdens.

The Power Division highlighted that industrial cross-subsidies have been reduced from Rs225 billion to Rs102 billion, while inefficiencies of power companies will not be passed on to consumers.
Authorities also announced that a new billing system will be introduced to enhance transparency, and requested NEPRA to make a timely decision to implement the government’s policy effectively.
