He has also served in the company for several years.
During his tenure, he had taken several measures to boost local oil and gas production to overcome energy needs in Pakistan.
The company used cutting-edge technologies and followed best industries practices to boost indigenous oil and gas production in July 2023.
During short time, the company was able to add 1865 barrels of crude oil, 15.9 mmcfd gas and 51 metric tons LPG. This is annual import substitution of USD 91 Million.
During the previous process, the cabinet had appointed Zahid Mir as managing director OGDCL.
Mir is currently serving as managing director Pakistan Refinery Limited (PRL).
He had already served as managing director of OGDCL and took several measures that resulted in multibillion rupees savings for OGDCL.
During time serving in OGDCL, Zahid Mir had taken initiatives to boost oil production.
The OGDCL had met the drilling target of 100,000 metres for a year during a short time of a year.
He had completed several stalled projects like unnar Pasakhi Deep, Uch, Nashpa and Sinjhoro fields.
The completion of these projects resulted in boosting local oil and gas production in the country.
The cabinet had approved the appointment of Zahir Mir but a coalition party of the Shahbaz led government opposed his appointment.
Due to opposition from that party, the ministry of energy Petroleum division never notified his appointment despite approval of the cabinet.
