Govt Maintains Prices of Petrol and Diesel
The government announced on Tuesday to keep the prices of petrol and diesel unchanged for the next two weeks, effective from November 1, 2023.
In a statement released by the finance ministry, it was confirmed that the current prices of petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) would be maintained during this period.
The price of petrol will remain at Rs 283.38 per liter, while the cost of high-speed diesel will stay at Rs 303.18 per liter. Shell Oil Firm Reportedly sold to Wafi Group KSA
In a minor adjustment, the price of kerosene oil will be reduced by Rs 3.82 per liter, bringing it down to Rs 211.03 per liter. Similarly, the price of light diesel oil will see a reduction of Rs 3.40 per liter.
It’s worth noting that kerosene oil and light diesel oil are not as widely used in the country.
Kerosene oil is primarily used in remote areas, such as the northern part of Pakistan, where liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) is not readily available for cooking.
The Pakistan Army also relies on kerosene oil in the northern regions.
In contrast, high-speed diesel is extensively used in the transportation and agriculture sectors, making any price changes impactful for the farming community and contributing to inflation due to its use in transportation.
Industry calculations had initially projected a price increase of Rs 5.10 per liter for petrol, but the government’s decision has kept it stable, possibly even reducing it by Rs 1.50 per liter.
