Prime Minister Shehbaz Orders Swift Implementation of Pak-China Agreements

During a review meeting on Pak-China cooperation at the PM House, the prime minister highlighted China as a long-standing friend of Pakistan, always supportive in times of need. He mentioned that the Chinese leadership is keen on further expanding investments in Pakistan.
The prime minister noted that transferring Chinese industries to Pakistan would enhance the country’s overall economy, boost exports, and create new job opportunities.
In the meeting, progress on various projects initiated with Chinese collaboration was reviewed. It was reported that the Sukkur-Hyderabad Motorway would be completed through a Public-Private Partnership.
Additionally, the plan to send 1,000 students for modern agricultural vocational training at government expense was finalized. The first group of students is scheduled to go to China at the start of this academic year, with subsequent batches to follow after learning Chinese in Pakistan.
The meeting also covered the final stages of plans to transition power plants from imported coal to local coal. Regarding business and investment opportunities, a roadshow was being organized in Beijing in collaboration with China.
A comprehensive roadmap for transferring Chinese industries to Pakistan was presented, including partnerships with Chinese companies in the textile, medical and surgical equipment, plastic, and leather industries. It was reported that 78 Pakistani companies have shown strong interest in these collaborations.
The Board of Investment (BoI) presented a detailed report on progress and action plans, which the prime minister commended. He instructed relevant departments and officers to provide full support to Pakistani companies working with Chinese counterparts.
