PVC margins cross benchmark of $1,000 per ton
The margins of PVC reached 1,560 US ton on March 17, 2021, after aggressive buying by Asian producers.
PVC margin reached a historical high of USD1,025 per ton on 18th March 2021 as PVC prices increased to USD1,560 per ton while Ethylene prices declined to USD1,070 per ton.
Possible hard product availability and strong PVC futures on the Dalian Commodity Exchange in China further boosted prices in Asia.
According to S&P Global Plate, plants in Europe and the United States have also been operating due to forced breakdown announcements in both regions (sub-zero temperatures that have engulfed petrochemical plants across the US Gulf Coast).
The price of ethylene is hovering around $ 1,070 per ton.
As a result, PVC ethylene margins now have a record US $ 1,020 per ton (February 21-21 average $ 831 per ton and one year average of US $ 593 per ton). High PVC ethylene margins are moving positively to make EPCL profitable.
