Rockstar Faces Protests After GTA 6 Delay
Rockstar Games has once again delayed the release of Grand Theft Auto 6, moving the launch date to 19 November 2026.
The sequel to the blockbuster franchise was initially scheduled for release in autumn 2025, later moved to May 2026, and now faces a second postponement.
Rockstar Games said that the additional time is necessary to deliver the level of polish and performance “fans expect and deserve.”
In its latest statement, the developer apologized for extending the wait but assured fans that the final product will be worth it.
The company also expressed excitement about the game’s new setting — Leonida, a fictional state inspired by Florida, and the modernized Vice City, its iconic Miami-like metropolis.
First released in 2013, GTA 5 remains one of the most successful games in history and continues to thrive through its online mode. Given that legacy, expectations for GTA 6 are enormous.

The announcement follows unrest at studios of Rockstar in UK, where the dismissal of 31 employees sparked protests in Edinburgh and London led by the IWGB union.
The union accused Rockstar of targeting employees involved in unionization efforts. the parent company of Rockstar, Take-Two Interactive, has yet to comment on the allegations.
So far, Rockstar has released only two trailers for the upcoming title, with the most recent one in May.
The clip, viewed over 100 million times, introduced players to protagonists Jason and Lucia, a crime duo navigating the streets of Leonida.
Rockstar is known for its perfectionism and history of delays, with Red Dead Redemption 2 also postponed by nearly a year before release.
