SAI President Demands To Notify 9 Cents Power Tariff
Staff Report
KARACHI: The President of the SITE Association of Industry, Muhammad Kamran Arbi, welcomes the federal government’s decision to allow a power tariff of 9 cents per kilowatt-hour (KWh) for industrial consumers. He urges the government to promptly issue the notification for the same.
Arbi emphasizes that the reduction in power tariff to 9 cents/KWh will not only contribute to the restoration of industrial competitiveness and the revitalization of the economy but will also significantly boost the confidence of industrialists.
This move is expected to enhance exports across all sectors, stimulate numerous downstream industries and services, and ultimately lead to job creation, increased foreign exchange earnings, and overall economic growth and stability in the country.Pak-Iran Tension: The KSE 100 Index Declined on Weekly Basis
Highlighting the importance of providing a competitive and growth-oriented environment for industries, Arbi considers it imperative given the current economic situation.
He believes that a regionally competitive energy tariff is crucial to counteract the declining morale of industrialists and the decrease in value-added exports.
Furthermore, Kamran Arbi acknowledges the efforts of the Caretaker Federal Minister for Commerce & Industries Production, Dr. Gohar Ejaz, and Caretaker Minister for Energy & Power/Petroleum, Muhammad Ali, in the rationalization of the power tariff.
