Shaheen Afridi reportedly Resists His Removal

As Babar Azam returns as captain of the Pakistan cricket team, Shaheen Afridi has reportedly resisted his removal.
The controversy erupted when Afridi refused to sign off a statement to welcome Babar Azam’s return as captain of the national cricket team.
Amid this controversy, Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Mohsin Naqvi held a meeting with the national cricket team on Monday.
The national cricket team is currently participating in a fitness camp in Kakul.
PCB had issued a statement on the matter, quoting Shaheen Afridi who started to look forward to playing under Babar again.
He had been quoted in a statement, saying that it was an absolute honour to captain Pakistan’s national cricket team.
He said that it was his duty as a team player to back captain, Babar Azam.
Afridi was also quoted as saying that he had played under his captaincy.
He said that he had nothing but respect for him (Babar Azam).
According to media reports, Shaheen Afridi had resisted his removal after heading just one Twenty20 series.
Another media outlet reported that Shaheen Afridi was annoyed with the statement that was attributed to him.
Amid the controversy that intensified, PCB chief Naqvi visited Kakul to meet the national cricket team on Monday aimed at inspecting their training.
He expressed his gratitude to the Pakistan Army for arranging the fitness camp.
Naqvi said in a post on X that the incredible dedication and high spirits of the national team players highly inspired him.
According to a statement issued by PCB, he had a chat with the players and highly praised the players for their dedication and active participation in the training camp.
He also held a meeting with a selection committee to discuss team selection before the New Zealand T20I series.
Captain Babar Azam also attended the meeting. Chairman PCB Naqvi also took the team into confidence regarding the appointment of a head coach by the board.
