Karachi: The Sindh High Court took a stern stance against the Secretary and Managing Director (MD) of the Sindh Industrial Trading Estate Development Authority (SIDA) during a hearing concerning the non-regularization of its employees.

The constitutional bench expressed frustration over the continued non-compliance with court orders related to the regularization of 27 SIDA employees.

The case revolves around 27 officers who have been working on contract since the year 2000 in grades 17 and 18. The court had issued an order five years ago mandating their regularization, but the directive has not been implemented.

During the recent hearing, the court directed the arrest of SIDA Secretary Khurram Shehzad and MD Pritam Das due to their failure to comply with the court’s previous orders. Both officials were taken into custody inside the courtroom by police officials.Sindh Solar Kit Imports Under Scrutiny

Advocate Aqil Awan, representing the petitioners, highlighted that despite the court’s clear instructions, the officers failed to provide any justification for the delay or refusal to regularize the employees. The court’s decisive action underscores its commitment to enforcing its rulings and addressing administrative negligence within SIDA.

This development marks a significant step in the ongoing legal battle to secure the rights of long-serving contract employees within the Sindh Industrial Trading Estate Development Authority.
