Sindh Aligns Grading With Global Standards

The Sindh Department of Universities and Boards has introduced a new grading framework for students of classes nine to twelve, beginning from the upcoming academic session.

Under this updated policy, the minimum passing mark has been increased from thirty three percent to forty percent to strengthen educational standards across the province.

The results of Students will now be presented in the form of letter grades rather than the traditional percentage system followed in previous examinations.

The department has also unveiled a comprehensive grading structure designed to define academic performance levels more clearly and uniformly across all education boards.

Students securing between fifty and fifty nine percent will receive a D grade, while those achieving sixty to sixty nine percent will be awarded a C.

Scores ranging between seventy and seventy four percent will earn a B grade, whereas students obtaining seventy five to seventy nine percent will be graded B plus.

Candidates who score between eighty and eighty four percent will receive a B double plus, while higher achievers will fall within the A category.

As per the new classification, students obtaining eighty five to eighty nine percent will be awarded an A grade for their academic performance.

Those who secure marks between ninety and ninety four percent will receive an A plus grade for demonstrating consistently high performance in examinations.

Students achieving between ninety five and one hundred percent will also be classified under the A plus category, ensuring recognition for outstanding excellence.

Officials stated that the revised system aims to reduce examination pressure and promote a fairer assessment method for all secondary and higher secondary students.

They further mentioned that this framework brings Sindh’s evaluation standards closer to international systems, facilitating university admissions abroad for deserving students.

All Sindh education boards will adopt the new structure together, supported by awareness campaigns for schools, teachers, and parents before its full implementation next year.

The Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education has also introduced a new grading policy that raises the passing requirement from thirty three to forty percent.

The policy, effective from 2026, will apply to both Secondary and Higher Secondary students under the federal education system.
