Sindh Orders Crackdown on Unplated Vehicles

Sindh police have been ordered to take strict action across the province against vehicles running without number plates or valid driving licences.

Karachi traffic police introduced an electronic challan system in October under which traffic violations are recorded and fined through CCTV cameras across the city.

IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon issued his second directive in 35 days, noting numerous vehicles were being driven without proper registration or licences.

The order instructs authorities to identify such vehicles and drivers and to take action under the Motor Vehicle Ordinance without exception immediately.

The directive mandates a rigorous crackdown including vehicle seizures, registration of cases, arrests, and daily reports submitted via email to the IG Operations Room.

The order has been circulated to all DIGs, SSPs and other senior police officials across the province for immediate implementation by all concerned.

The first such directive had been issued on October 31, 2025, signalling earlier attempts to curb unregistered and improperly driven vehicles on roads.

Earlier reports said vehicles without number plates were roaming freely on Karachi roads and netizens shared videos showing many such vehicles without displayed plates.

The IG has taken notice of these stories while e-challans are being conducted under the modern system, directing prompt reporting and enforcement.
