Skyrooms Names Former PIA CFO Amos Nadeem as CEO

Skyrooms, a subsidiary under the umbrella of PIA Holding, has recently appointed Amos Nadeem as its new chief executive officer. Nadeem brings with him significant experience from his previous role as Chief Financial Officer (CFO) at Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).

Leadership Changes at Skyrooms

The company’s board made the executive decision to replace Asim Ahmed, who formerly served as General Manager of Airport Hotel, with Irfan Ahmed Khan stepping in temporarily. Irfan Ahmed Khan will now manage the position on an interim basis and report directly to PIA airlines immediately.

PIA Fleet Expansion Tied to Broader Corporate Strategy

Parallel to the leadership reshuffle at Skyrooms, Pakistan International Airlines is moving forward with a plan to boost its fleet by adding four new aircraft. According to Parliamentary Secretary for Defence Osama Sarwar, the first of these airplanes will be operational starting November 1, with a second aircraft arriving two weeks later on November 15. The airline has yet to finalize the route for the second aircraft. Two additional planes are scheduled to join the fleet in January 2027, commencing operations out of Karachi.

This expansion effort is pivotal for PIA’s strategy to reopen and broaden its international routes, including the restoration of its service to the United Kingdom—an important market for Pakistani travelers and businesses.

Implications for Pakistan’s Aviation and Tech Sectors

The appointment of a seasoned financial executive like Amos Nadeem to lead Skyrooms signals a strategic alignment between PIA’s aviation operations and its subsidiary businesses. Given the aviation industry’s significance in facilitating trade, tourism, and expatriate travel for Pakistan, these developments may influence broader economic activity and the connectivity of Pakistani businesses and diaspora.

For Skyrooms, effective leadership under someone familiar with PIA’s financial landscape could foster better integration and resource utilization, especially as PIA ramps up its operational scale. This matters for Pakistani consumers and companies relying on PIA’s expanding services, as well as for innovation and startup ecosystems linked with subsidiaries like Skyrooms.

In a statement, a Skyrooms spokesperson said, “Amos Nadeem’s extensive background in finance equips him well to drive our next phase of growth and operational excellence.” This appointment reflects the growing trend in Pakistan’s tech and aviation sectors to leverage expertise from established industries to enhance competitiveness and service delivery.
