SAP, a leading German software company, intends to establish a Software Development Center in Pakistan in order to implement international software development.

Currently, it provides digital solutions to leading Pakistani companies in the public and private sectors, allowing them to achieve greater business growth.

In a conversation with a select group of journalists, SAP’s country managing director Saquib Ahmad stated that regulatory approval was being sought for the establishment of a Software Development Center in Pakistan.

Next year, we anticipate obtaining all regulatory approvals from various institutions, including the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).

In response to a question, he stated that the company had not identified a location in Pakistan for a software development centre.

However, he added that it would be capable of training 5,000 students.

Regarding possible tax exemptions, he stated that the company would adhere to the current tax system and not seek exemptions.

“We need to work with the best practices in the world, and the software development centre will help in this regard,” he said, adding that Pakistani businesses need change management without fear of job loss.

He maintained that the establishment of a software delivery centre would provide Pakistani youth with employment opportunities. However, SAP’s CEO ruled out the possibility of exporting software tools in light of the company’s decision to establish a software development centre in Pakistan.

He added that the internet played a crucial role in providing digital services and that the implementation of digital solutions through 5G technology would benefit businesses.

Additionally, he asserted that these systems utilising SAP digital solutions had never encountered cyber security issues.

Regarding the security of sensitive data pertaining to various institutions such as the SBP, he stated that the data remained in Pakistan and there had never been a breach.

“There have been reports of service disruptions due to the unavailability of devices such as chips in different countries, but we have never experienced such a problem with digital services,” he maintained.

He added that SAP also offered digital solutions such as predictive analysis for behaviour assessment with a 99 percent degree of accuracy.

He stated that it had also contributed to the growth of businesses in Pakistan.

Additionally, the head of SAP in Pakistan stated that the company has experienced double-digit annual growth in Pakistan.

As a result of their investments in digital solutions, he stated, the profits of SAP’s client companies were growing. In addition to expanding to achieve export goals, the companies created jobs in Pakistan.
