SSGC Disconnects 3000 illegal Connections
The Sui Southern Gas Company’s Security Services and Counter Gas Theft Operations Department has disconnected 3000 illegal gas connections in a bid to curb the rising incidences of gas theft.
Recently, SSGC teams have carried out operations in Shah Latif Town, Malir, Karachi to curb gas theft for the past two weeks.
In a raid carried out near Near Abdullah Goth, Shah Latif Town, Malir, Karachi, the SSGC team has found an illegal connection directly from SSGC’s 16” main distribution line, supplying 2,600 households.
Culprits were charging Rs. 20,000/- in advance to provide the illegal connection and Rs. 1,500 as monthly payment. SSGC has dismantled all illegal connections on spot, and even after having been attacked by a mob, SSGC’s teams continued to disconnect all illegal connections.
FIRs have been lodged against culprits Allah Wadhaya Abbasi S/o.Allah Wasaya, Wajid Baloch, Khan Muhammad Buledi, Khair Muhammad Kaleri, Anwer Siyal & Shah Muhammad for providing illegal direct connections to the residents. Appropriate claim will be raised accordingly.

Following this major raid, SSGC took another action in Yar Mohammad Goth, Malir, Karachi, where an illegal direct underground connection was found on SSGC’s 20” main distribution line.
The line was punctured to supply gas to 400 houses of Yar Mohammad Goth. The culprits were charging Rs. 12,000/- as advance and Rs. 2,000/- as monthly payment.
Culprits have been using two heavy gas generators directly from service line for power generation purposes. The utility has taken both the generators in custody. All clamps and illegal pipes used for stealing gas have been removed on the spot. The company has also lodged FIR against culprits Ali Chandio & Badshah Khan for providing illegal direct connections to the residents.
