Millions of families across Pakistan can now easily confirm their eligibility and payment status under the Ehsaas 8171 Program, a key social welfare initiative run through BISP.

The digital system has simplified the process for low-income households by allowing them to check their assistance from home without visiting government offices.

How to Check Your Ehsaas 8171 Status

To verify your status, send your 13-digit CNIC number via SMS to 8171 or visit the official 8171 web portal.

Once verified, beneficiaries can collect their payments from designated bank branches or ATMs after biometric verification.

The system is free of cost and directly linked with NADRA and the National Socio-Economic Registry (NSER), ensuring only eligible applicants receive financial aid.

Latest Update on Payments

Under the Ehsaas Kafalat initiative, quarterly payments have been increased to Rs13,500, offering much-needed relief to households struggling with inflation.

Funds are transferred digitally to make the process faster and more transparent.

Who Qualifies for the Program

The Ehsaas Kafalat program supports low-income families, widows, people with disabilities, and parents of school-going children. To qualify, applicants must have:

  • A valid CNIC
  • A SIM registered in their name
  • A Poverty Means Test (PMT) score below 32

Possible Eligibility Results

When checking your CNIC, the system may display one of the following messages:

  • Eligible: Approved for assistance
  • Under Verification: Records are still being reviewed by NADRA and NSER
  • Survey Required: Household survey must be completed at a nearby Benazir Registration Centre
  • Ineligible: Poverty score exceeds the set limit (reapply after updating information)

The 8171 system promotes transparency by directly linking to national databases, ensuring that only genuine applicants receive their payments through a secure process.

With over nine million families currently benefiting, it stands among Pakistan’s largest social protection initiatives, supported by an annual budget of more than Rs400 billion.

Beneficiaries are advised to use only official channels, avoid sharing personal details like CNIC photos, OTPs, or PINs, and never pay intermediaries for access.

They should also keep their CNIC information and SIM registration updated to ensure smooth processing and secure receipt of Ehsaas payments each quarter.
