The series, penned by renowned writer Umera Ahmed and directed by Haseeb Hassan, delves into themes of power and its corrupting influence.
Behind Hadi’s Complex Character
While watching Rutba, viewers have noted the dramatic evolution of Hadi, who once enjoyed a peaceful life with Mahnoor but gradually drifts towards Sheely, causing conflict and moral ambiguity. Talha revealed that his role is inspired by an actual person, though the identity remains confidential. This connection to real events was a significant factor in his attraction to the project.
He describes Hadi not as a straightforward hero or villain but as a deeply flawed, “grey” character whose questionable choices reflect genuine human imperfections. Talha emphasized the importance of representing such complexity authentically on screen, stating, “These flaws are part of human nature, and showing them resonates with audiences.”
Why Rutba Matters to Pakistani Audiences
In Pakistani television, characters are often depicted in black-and-white terms of good and evil. Rutba breaks this convention by portraying a protagonist torn between loyalty and temptation, highlighting the messy realities of life. For viewers, this layered portrayal offers a fresh perspective and sparks discussions about morality and the impact of power on relationships.
As Pakistan’s drama industry continues to mature, productions like Rutba that explore complex human behaviors play an essential role in pushing creative boundaries. Talha Chahour’s portrayal of Hadi serves as a mirror to the audience, prompting reflection on ethical dilemmas faced in everyday life.
With its compelling storyline and strong performances, Rutba stands out as a thought-provoking drama, making it an important cultural conversation starter in Pakistan’s entertainment scene.
