Third Round of Pakistan-Turkmenistan Bilateral Political Consultations
Islamabad: The Third Round of Pakistan-Turkmenistan Bilateral Political Consultations was held today at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan, led the Pakistani delegation. Rashid Meredov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister for Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, led the Turkmen side.
Both parties discussed Pakistan-Turkmenistan bilateral relations, covering trade, investment, energy collaboration, connectivity, and cultural ties. They acknowledged the positive trend in relations and committed to bolstering dialogue and exchanges at the highest levels of leadership. Mechanisms for bilateral dialogue will also be strengthened.
Efforts were agreed upon to enhance cooperation across political, economic, and defense sectors. Priority will be given to expanding economic ties through trade, investment, energy, connectivity, and IT sectors. Discussions included the TAPI Pipeline and TAP Electricity Transmission Line projects.
Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar emphasized Pakistan’s dedication to boosting bilateral trade and economic relations to their full potential. He stressed the importance of finalizing the Transit Trade Agreement promptly and easing visa regulations to facilitate business.
Both sides pledged to encourage parliamentary exchanges, cultural interactions, educational scholarships, diplomat training, and people-to-people contacts. They affirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation within multilateral frameworks such as the United Nations and the Economic Cooperation Organization.
