Trump revokes around 80,000 non-immigrant visas

A senior US State Department official told that since his inauguration on January 20, Donald Trump’s administration has revoked around 80,000 non-immigrant visas. This was a part of an intensified crackdown on foreign nationals.

Out of the total, around 16,000 of the cancellations have been linked to driving.  Around 12,000 were involved in assaults, and around 8,000 in theft cases.

The Trump administration has also introduced stricter visa-screening measures which included deeper social-media checks and expanded vetting of applicants.

Student visas have formed part of the broader revocation drive as more than 6,000 visas were cancelled for overstays, law violations, and alleged ties to terrorism.

The move has resulted in concern among universities and foreign students over policy transparency and legal rights.

Analysts say the mass visa revocations have marked a significant shift in US immigration enforcement. It reflects President Trump’s broader agenda to reduce legal immigration and promote stricter national-security checks.
