11,695 Pending Net Metering Applications Resolved in Pakistan
Islamabad – Under the directives of Federal Minister for Power Division Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari, a total of 11,695 pending net metering applications have been successfully resolved, according to official sources.
The process aims to ensure eligible consumers receive their entitled benefits without reliance on third-party agents or intermediaries. This development comes during the transition from the net metering system to the net billing system, where initially 16,654 applications were pending.
A comprehensive verification and validation exercise was conducted by the Power Division in collaboration with relevant institutions to clear and approve these applications in compliance with applicable rules and regulations. The Pakistan Information Technology Company (PITC) has initiated direct communication with the consumers involved, providing updates through SMS, WhatsApp, and other digital platforms to ensure transparency and accessibility.
Consumers can also check the status of their applications online at nmverification.pitc.com.pk. They are advised not to pay any fees to individuals or agents for processing their applications, as all communications and updates are managed directly by the authorities.
The remaining 4,959 applications are undergoing scrutiny to verify their authenticity and adherence to NEPRA clarifications, rules, and guidelines. The government emphasized the importance of preventing fraudulent or misinformation-based applications while safeguarding the rights of genuine consumers.
Federal Minister Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari affirmed that resolving legitimate grievances promptly remains a top priority. Authorities have been directed to expedite the review of outstanding cases, providing clear and transparent updates throughout the process.
This initiative aligns with the government’s broader policy to promote solar and renewable energy in Pakistan. Solarization is regarded as a vital component of the country’s energy future, with efforts focused on fostering growth in this sector while protecting consumer interests and ensuring a sustainable framework.
