According to official data, the highest number of e-challans — 7,083 — were issued for not wearing seatbelts, followed by 2,456 for riding motorcycles without helmets, 1,920 for overspeeding, 829 for red-signal violations, 410 for using mobile phones while driving, and 78 for driving in the wrong direction.

Additional fines included 78 for driving against the flow of traffic, 49 for lane violations, 35 for tinted windows, and 26 for vehicle overloading. Twenty challans each were issued for illegal parking, stop-line violations, and wrong parking. Meanwhile, seven challans were recorded for carrying passengers on bus rooftops and for overloading on one-way routes.

No e-challans were issued during this period for offenses such as fancy number plates, non-payment of vehicle tax, abrupt lane changes, or violations of the bus lane and stop-line rules.

Traffic officials said the new system, which automatically detects and records violations through surveillance cameras, is expected to curb traffic offenses in Karachi and promote adherence to road safety regulations.
