Pakistani rupee Witnesses a Slight Dip Against US Dollar

The Pakistani rupee on Wednesday halted its appreciation against the US dollar, which registered a marginal decline in the inter-bank market.

At market close, the Pakistani rupee settled at 281.43, recording a decline of Rs 0.01 against the US dollar.

The Pakistani rupee continued to gain against the US dollar, which surged 0.08 percent in the opening session on Wednesday morning.

It was closed at Rs 281.42 against the US dollar on Tuesday. In early trade on Wednesday, it reached Rs 281.20, registering an increase of Rs 0.22 against the US dollar.

In the international market, it went up after registering a dip to a one-week-long low. The traders are expecting two more US interest rate cuts this year despite the Fed’s cautious stance.

Meanwhile, Australia’s dollar also gained on higher-than-expected inflation. New Zealand’s currency has remained steady after the appointment of a new central bank governor.

The dollar index has gained 0.1% to 97.335 as it recovers from recent losses. Oil prices have witnessed a hike for a second day on signs of tightening US supplies. Brent crude was traded at $67.90 per barrel, and WTI at $63.69.
