CCP Chairman Announces PTCL Telenor Merger
The Competition Commission of Pakistan has announced the merger between PTCL and Telenor after a detailed review of its impact on the telecom sector.
This merger was described as one of the most complex agreements in the global telecom industry due to its involvement in multiple sub-markets.
CCP ensured that a level playing field was guaranteed for all telecom operators so every company could provide services on equal and transparent grounds.
Barrister Ambreen Abbasi, Head of Legal at CCP, highlighted the transparency of the review process during her presentation on the merger approval.

The Commission studied dozens of similar mergers globally and carefully examined orders issued by regulators in the United States, United Kingdom and European Union.
Chairman CCP said the merger would improve services and products for Pakistani consumers while protecting the interests of every stakeholder in the telecom sector.
He further noted that this merger was linked with six distinct telecom sub-markets, making it one of the most technical decisions undertaken.
