A video message by former Pakistan captain Wasim Akram has gone viral after he strongly rejected false links tying him to a Haryana YouTuber’s arrest.

He accused media outlets of carelessly using his image while reporting that a man named Wasim Akram was arrested for alleged espionage in Haryana.

In the video, the former left-arm pacer urged journalists and social media users to verify information before posting, warning against damaging reputations without proof.

The former Pakistani cricketer said many people share news without checking facts, which allows dangerous misinformation to spread across media platforms.

Akram insisted that the arrested person is not him, though they share the same name, and asked for respect toward individuals wrongly targeted by careless reporting.

It is pertinent to mention here that Haryana Police arrested a 30-year-old, Wasim Akram, on charges of spying for ISI and the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi.

Authorities had claim he shared sensitive data, SIM cards, and internet calling access with Pakistani handlers through encrypted apps.
