Pakistan Receives $1B Oil Facility and $5B Deposits
Pakistan has secured significant financial relief from Saudi Arabia, which has agreed to provide six billion dollars in economic assistance during the current fiscal year.
According to the finance ministry, the package includes a one billion dollar oil financing facility and the rollover of five billion dollars in deposits.
The deposits are held with the SBP, and the arrangement highlights the continued commitment of Riyadh to supporting the fragile and struggling economy of Pakistan.
Under the oil facility, valued at approximately two hundred ninety billion rupees, Pakistan receives oil supplies worth one hundred million dollars each month.
Official records show that oil worth more than three hundred million dollars has already been delivered during the first quarter of the current fiscal year.
This facility enables Islamabad to fulfill a portion of its energy import requirements without immediate payment obligations, easing pressure on the national reserves.

In addition to the oil assistance, Saudi Arabia has rolled over five billion dollars previously placed with the State Bank of Pakistan as part of budgetary support.
The renewed deposits, equivalent to one thousand four hundred fifty billion rupees, carry an annual interest rate of four percent and are reviewed yearly.
Finance ministry officials confirmed that two billion dollars will mature in December 2025, while the remaining three billion will renew in June 2026.
The rollover helps Pakistan preserve critical foreign exchange reserves, ensuring investor confidence and supporting financial stability amid growing external repayment obligations.
The renewed Saudi support arrives as Pakistan strives to stabilize its external balances, manage rising debt repayments, and sustain economic recovery under fiscal constraints.
