The Sindh High Court has declared the capital tariff imposed on industries by Sui Southern Gas Company unconstitutional, ruling its enforcement violated constitutional provisions principles.

The court approved petitions filed by industrial units challenging the tariff, which SSGC imposed in February 2025, sharply increasing production costs for businesses nationwide impact.

Petitioners told the court that the capital tariff caused serious financial difficulties, arguing it was adversely affecting overall industrial activity across the province significantly today.

During the hearing, the Sindh High Court directed that amounts collected from industries under the capital tariff be adjusted in future gas bills accordingly thereon.

The court held that implementation of the capital tariff on industries was contrary to the Constitution and the law of Pakistan governing commercial energy matters.

Industry representatives warned that rising production costs could negatively affect exports and employment if such tariffs continued without relief measures from authorities concerned nationwide further.
