Pakistan Passport Ranking Improves In 2026

Pakistan’s passport ranking improved on the Henley Index in 2026, rising to 98 from 103 in 2025, according to figures released on Thursday.

The latest rankings placed Pakistan joint 98th with Yemen, ahead of Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan, reflecting a modest but notable improvement globally.

According to the index, Pakistan’s passport now allows visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 31 destinations worldwide for its holders under current rules.

Singapore topped the 2026 index with access to 192 countries, followed by Japan and South Korea with 188 destinations worldwide this year.

Denmark, Luxembourg, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland jointly ranked third, each offering visa-free access to 186 countries on the index this year officially.

The Henley Index lists several visa-free destinations for Pakistanis, alongside multiple countries offering visas on arrival and electronic travel authorisation options currently available.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi welcomed the improvement on X, calling it a strong achievement and pledging continued momentum going forward nationally this year.

Despite the rise, Pakistan’s passport previously ranked among the world’s weakest, holding positions between 100 and 109 from 2021 to 2025 period.
