The Punjab government has expanded its Apni Chhat Apna Ghar housing scheme, extending interest free installment based loans to joint families across the province Punjab.
The expansion allows families to enlarge existing homes, supporting joint family traditions and promoting social harmony through shared living arrangements under the provincial housing programme.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif called the initiative a golden gift, saying it reflects the government commitment to housing development and social cohesion across Punjab.
She said joint families are now included, with special facilities to expand homes while preserving the character of shared living spaces across the province today.
The Punjab government has set a target to construct one hundred sixty thousand homes by June twenty twenty six across the province under the programme.

Under Apni Zameen Apna Ghar, people without land will receive plots and interest free loans to build their own homes across the province of Punjab.
In the first phase, one thousand five hundred thirty four plots will be allotted through lottery in several Punjab cities including Jhelum, Kasur, Faisalabad Lodhran.
Officials said one million eight hundred eighty thousand eighty one users are registered, with one million sixty six thousand five hundred fifty nine applicants active.
So far, sixty seven thousand one hundred ninety seven homes are completed, while fifty three thousand eight hundred forty three remain under construction across Punjab.
Loan disbursements total one hundred sixty four point six six billion rupees, with a reported recovery rate of ninety nine percent under the housing programme.
