New Working Hours Announced Amid Lahore Pollution Crisis

The Lahore district administration has announced revised working hours for markets, restaurants, and cafés to address the escalating smog and worsening air pollution levels.

Officials confirmed the new schedule is effective immediately and will be strictly enforced to reduce emissions from vehicles, industries, and other major sources of pollution.

Under the revised directive, markets will close at 10pm from Monday to Saturday, while Sunday operations will be restricted from 2pm to 10pm to limit pollution.

Restaurants and cafés are now required to close by 11pm on weekdays, while on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, they can operate until midnight for dine-in customers.

To accommodate late-night orders, the administration allowed home delivery services to continue until 2am, balancing public convenience.

Hospitals, medical stores, milk shops, tandoors, laboratories, petrol pumps, and puncture repair shops, have been exempted from these newly imposed timing restrictions.

The district administration warned that any violations of the revised timings will result in strict action, with teams and police monitoring businesses for proper compliance.

These measures are part of Lahore’s comprehensive plan to improve air quality and mitigate the city’s worsening smog, which has significantly affected public health in recent weeks.
