The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has confirmed that strict spectrum caps will be applied at every stage of the upcoming 5G auction, ensuring fair competition among all participating bidders.
PTA clarified that spectrum caps are enforced at the point of bid entry, and the auction rules are designed to prevent any violations during bid submission, processing, or iterative auction rounds.
Bids exceeding activity rules or spectrum cap limits will not be processed, reinforcing the authority’s commitment to maintaining equal opportunities and avoiding any potential breaches throughout the auction process.

The authority explained that an Electronic Auction System manages bids in a queue ordered by price points, ensuring each bid is handled consistently and transparently across different spectrum bands.
When a bid is partially processed, the remaining portion stays in the queue and is reconsidered in later iterations, following international practices established in spectrum auctions around the world.
PTA further stated it will provide detailed worked examples during the information session and mock auction, demonstrating how the system manages excess demand and processes bid adjustments throughout the auction process.
