Authorities have warned that employers found violating immigration laws through fake sponsorships could face bans on recruiting overseas workers. This crackdown is part of broader efforts to tighten immigration oversight and ensure compliance with existing regulations.

In addition to the measures against fake sponsors, new rules affecting dual nationals are set to take effect from Wednesday, February 25, 2026. Under these updated regulations, individuals holding dual citizenship but lacking a British passport may be denied entry into the UK. Dual nationals will now be required to present either a valid visa, a British passport, or a Certificate of Entitlement to gain entry.

Those without a British passport must also obtain an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) or a Certificate of Entitlement before traveling to the UK. The ETA will allow travelers to stay for up to six months for tourism or family visits.

These new measures reflect the UK government’s intensified efforts to strengthen immigration controls amid the reported surge in fraudulent visa sponsorship cases and to update entry requirements for dual citizens. The authorities aim to prevent abuse of the immigration system while facilitating legitimate travel and work opportunities.
