NADRA Launches Proof of Life Certificate via PakID App
ISLAMABAD: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has introduced a digital facility enabling pensioners to obtain their proof of life certificates through the PakID mobile application, easing the process of pension verification.
Traditionally, pensioners in Pakistan are required to provide proof of life at six-month intervals to continue receiving their pension payments. This process often necessitates physical visits to banks, posing significant challenges for elderly individuals, especially those suffering from health issues or mobility constraints.
To address these difficulties, NADRA’s new service allows pensioners to apply for proof of life certificates remotely via the PakID app. Additionally, certificates can be obtained at NADRA registration centres, Union Councils, e-Sahulat franchises, and through NADRA mobile services countrywide.
According to NADRA spokesperson Syed Shabahat Ali, the entire pension-related procedure is streamlined through the app. Once a pensioner submits their application electronically, the data is transmitted directly to the relevant pension paying authority. Ali likened the transmission process to sending an email, highlighting the ease and efficiency involved.
Upon receipt of the application, the pension disbursing authority instructs the concerned bank to credit the pension amount to the pensioner’s designated bank account, completing the process without any need for physical presence.
This initiative aims to make pension-related services more accessible and convenient, particularly benefiting elderly pensioners and individuals facing travel challenges. By leveraging digital technology, NADRA is improving service delivery and reducing the administrative burden on pensioners.
The move aligns with broader government efforts to digitize public services, enhancing transparency and efficiency across various sectors.
