Major Power Breakdown Hits Several Karachi Areas
A significant power outage affected multiple areas of Karachi after more than 14 K-Electric grid stations went offline due to a fault in the company’s Extra High Tension (EHT) network.
The electricity disruption impacted localities including Manghopir, Nazimabad, Surjani Town, North Karachi, North Nazimabad, Defence, Orangi, Keamari, Lyari, New Karachi, Gulshan-e-Hadeed, PIDC, and Mauripur. Several neighborhoods experienced power loss for approximately 90 minutes before electricity supply gradually resumed.
A K-Electric spokesperson attributed the outage to a brief fault in the EHT network, which temporarily affected power transmission across the city. While supply has been restored in many areas, teams continue working to normalize electricity in the remaining affected localities.
The company emphasized that power supply remains stable in most parts of Karachi despite this incident. K-Electric’s ongoing efforts aim to prevent such disruptions and maintain reliable service for the city’s residents.
