Islamabad’s F-9 Park to Get New Lake and Amenities
Islamabad’s F-9 Park is set for significant enhancements, including a new lake, upgraded walkways, and coffee shops, according to Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi. The improvements aim to enrich the visitor experience while preserving the park’s natural environment.
Planned Enhancements for F-9 Park
The redevelopment project for Fatima Jinnah Park, commonly called F-9 Park, will focus on improving infrastructure such as pedestrian pathways and lighting to increase safety and accessibility. Additionally, thousands of new trees will be planted to expand the park’s green area, ensuring its ecological balance remains intact.
Minister Naqvi emphasized that no existing trees will be cut down as part of the project, reassuring the public amid environmental concerns. The development avoids adding concrete structures, aiming to maintain the greenery that makes F-9 one of Islamabad’s prime urban green spaces.
Maintaining Environment and Public Appeal
By incorporating facilities like coffee shops, the upgraded park seeks to provide visitors with enhanced leisure spaces. The initiative echoes a vision to transform F-9 Park into a safer, greener, and more family-friendly environment, while taking inspiration from internationally recognized parks such as London’s Hyde Park.
These changes come amid increased public interest in maintaining urban green zones, which serve as essential lungs for the city. The government’s plan to also develop four more parks in Islamabad reflects a broader commitment to urban ecological enhancement.
Why This Matters for Pakistan
For Pakistani residents, especially in Islamabad, F-9 Park serves as a critical recreational and environmental asset. Such developments can improve quality of life and promote outdoor activity in urban settings. Additionally, the focus on tree planting and preserving natural elements aligns with growing environmental priorities in Pakistan’s cities, aiming for sustainable urban development while offering modern amenities.
Although the project’s timeline and funding details are yet to be disclosed, the upgrade could set a precedent for city parks nationwide, balancing urban expansion with green space conservation.
“The improvements are designed to protect the park’s natural beauty while making it more accessible and enjoyable for all,” Minister Naqvi explained.
